About Me

My name is Livia T. Pangelinan, and I am 31 years old.  I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Saipan, in the middle of the Pacific.  I am a senior at the Northern Marianas College, working towards my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education.  My dream is to teach in a classroom.  In addition to my love for teaching, I also love to learn.  I learn from the students and I hope they learn from me.  Every day in the classroom is a new, unique experience for me, and I try my very best to make it just as special for students. The desire to teach is new to me, but I feel that my heart is just as dedicated to it as teachers who have been teaching for decades.

My Teaching Philosophy

I firmly believe that every child can learn.  Whether the information is a small tidbit or a large chunk, any learning is an accomplishment.  Teaching is a big responsibility.  I agree with constructivism, which states that each child is in charge of his or her learning.  Learning should  be student centered, and teacher guided.  A teacher's role in the classroom is to provide the necessary tools for the students' success.  Developing a welcoming, safe, positive classroom culture is one way to maximize student achievement.
